brooklyn botanic garden and a serious talk.

Thursday, April 21, 2011

ed and i visited the brooklyn botanic garden last weekend. it was beautiful, don't get me wrong, but we laughed hysterically the whole time because we basically went all the way to brooklyn to see central park.

if you live in brooklyn i'm sure i'm gonna get some haters on this post, but i just wasn't very impressed with the botanic garden. on a positive note, ed and i wandered all over brooklyn and had one of those "wanna raise our future children here?" moments.

at the same time, when we stepped off the subway towards home, we were so relieved to be back in manhattan. for now, i think that's how we know we are in the right place.

We talk about moving to Brooklyn too, but we're just not ready yet. I'm scared we would never get back into Manhattan. And gah, the amount of kids there is just not something I can handle. Kids at the bar of nice restaurants. Kids at a bar of a BAR. TOO MANY KIDS in inappropriate places!

Since we're closer to BK, we feel the same way about Central Park - a haul for us - as you do about the Botanic Gardens!

I hear you. My husband lives in bklyn for years. I moved in with him to his tiny apt in bklyn heights and we loved it so much. we have this very romantic idea of the heights bc that's where we first fell in love and had our first place together. we go back all the time and we were last there bc we were looking at apts. but like you, the minute our cab crossed the bridge and we were back in the city we knew we were where we belong. I LOVE brooklyn and with a baby I can see myself raising her there but living in manhattan...there's nothing like it. nothing. yes we could use more space but the great thing about living in new york is that you don't have to go somewhere bc you always ARE somewhere. just go outside and there are 5 million things for your kids to do and enjoy.

One day, when you're ready, you'll move to Brooklyn. Tell me something though? Were the lilacs in bloom at the garden yet? That's one of my most favorite spots in the world.

when/if you move to brooklyn, you'll love it! i was born and raised in bk and i have such pride for that borough (as you eventually will, i'm sure!).

despite you not being impressed with the garden, the pictures are beautiful! love those soft pinks.

brandi- i didn't notice any lilacs. a lot of things weren't in bloom yet. i guess because it's still so chilly here.

i have to level with you...i'd move to brooklyn in a heartbeat, if only it weren't so expensive. for now i'm enjoying my tiny (very gentrified) corner of washington heights.
