the sartorialist himself.

guess who i saw yesterday at adorama? the sartorialist himself, scott schuman.

i was kind of star struck, even though i certainly don't classify him as a star. i caught myself trying to pose in his line of sight hoping he'd want to snap a pic. which is ridiculous because i was wearing nothing sartorial worthy, nor do i own anything sartorial worthy for that matter.

i wanted so badly to introduce myself and ask him some questions. but he headed straight for the door after he was helped with his camera or whatever he was doing.

I would recognize him for sure (I attended a lecture of his once - so interesting)! He is very diminutive.

After watching Bill Cunningham New York I've been deeming each day's outfit either worthy of him or not. Sadly, I think most fall into the "not" category. A well-known street photog works in my building - himself so fashionable that Cunningham featured him 3 times in a recent column - and I cringe when I see him in the elevator, especially on frumpy days.

kate-
i just told the hubs last night i wanted to see bill cunningham's documentary.

i regret not stopping scott and at least introducing myself. i chickened out!

I love your honesty in this post. Anyone of us would have been the same way! Hoping to be noticed by the renown Satorialist would be a dream! And I totally understand not getting around to introducing yourself. He's kind of an intimidating figure and I would imagine I'd be thinking of how much he disliked my taste in fashion the entire time I was talking to him! Either way, it's cool that you got to see him in person! Maybe next time....

How cool is that?! *sigh* I would never be caught on his blog, but I wish!

Every time I'm in New York I secretly hope I'll bump into him while I'm wearing something smashing. I don't blame you for your excitement.

confession: i even switched my purse (the only thing fashionable i was wearing at the time) to the OTHER shoulder. pathetic.

I think I would have been guilty of exactly the same shenanigans-how could you help it with Mr Sartorialist lurking?!

This is one of my NYC goals: to find myself in the sartorialist's presence and be wearing something so stunningly fabulous that he has to take a photo of me. Fingers crossed that I can make it happen.

I'm from Australia and saw him in Paris last year! I got a photo with him, but he was definitely not taken with my outfit. I was wearing a raint coat, jeans and tattered boots that were to be thrown out on departure from Paris. Ummm... he's shorter than I expected!
