recently i read about using apple cider vinegar as a toner to treat blemishes. it has to be the raw ACV, with the mother. i hate the phrase "with the mother" because it makes me think of dirty jokes that end in "ya' motha."
dilute the ACV to 3 parts water, 1 part ACV. though it may vary according to your skin type.
supposedly it helps even out your skin and clear acne. even those stubborn acne spots that never go away long after the pimple is gone.
ps: the heinous vinegar smell goes away once it soaks into your skin.

very interesting. i would try this definitely. ps great photo.
I've used apple cider vinegar as a toner...it works really well. I'm sure you'll have equal success.
this is intriguing, let us know how it goes because i would definitely try it!
can't wait to hear how it goes. love that photo, you are gorgeous. have i told you how glad i am you found me? so lovely to meet you. you're pretty wicked.
I've never heard that. Excited to hear what you think. I recently saw a thing about using coconut oil and baking soda as deodorant. Apparently it was the only natural deodorant that worked for this person. Hmmm...curious. My Husband would most definitely tell me if I become stinky, I hope.
Interesting! Do let us know the results!
I heard about this one too!!! :) Apparently it really works! Keep us posted on your progress :)

nikki-
i tried some all natural deodorant for a while and was told (very politely) that i smelled. i gotta draw a line somewhere i suppose.
I've been thinking about trying this - thanks for the tips and I'll be sure to pick up a bottle next time I'm in the supermarket!
let us know how it goes, i could use a natural remedy in my life.
I'm in to try this one. Let me know what the outcome is. Happy Tuesday!
Vinegar also makes a great once-in-a-while hair rinse! (I've also heard beer can make your hair shiny and that might be more fun in the shower... sip, pour, sip, pour...)
I've heard apple cider vinegar is good for all sorts of ailments. You already have pretty clear skin, but it'll be interesting to hear your feedback. I use it with a shot of honey when I have a sore throat and it really works. Tastes freakin' awful though.
ashley-
i imagine beer in the hair is a bad idea before a big meeting. who invited the drunk?
much to my delight-
thanks for the vinegar and honey tip. i'm sure it taste like poop, but still.
Oh, vinegar. John likes to drink the apple cider vinegar (with the mother, of course!) and the smell of it always freaks me out!
Oh please do let me know how it works, also do you have any other recomendations> My skin is really out of control lately.
ps...I love "yo momma" jokes personally. he
Thanks for the comment on my blog today and yes, I agree, that pool is a bit much but it's still fabulous! Also, thanks for introducing me to your blog! I love it!
Interesting! I'm always told to use vinegar in the hair to help fight the oil and give it a shine. Maybe I'll try it out! Always nice to try out more natural types of methods.
xo
there has to be something to that because I've had to use that as a medication once when i got a really bad sun burn on my face!
jennifer-
my dermatologist told me to have a serious relationship with retin-A. though that's more for wrinkle prevention i suppose. since i started using sunscreen full time, my skin is out of whack too. so annoying.
krystal-
good to know i'm not wiping smelly vinegar on my face for nothing! thanks for sharing.
Headr it, but I'm not sure the smell is worth it x) !
Hi :) thank you for stopping by my blog!
p.s. I use ACV in a mask I use about 1 to 2 times a week and it is amazing! I posted about it just the other day :)
Thanks for stopping by!
I shall use this trick. I just realized my skin and hair got really oily lately (thus blemishes sprout) and I think it's due to my recent decision to get off the baby-repellent pills.
wow who knew such a simple thing would cause your complexion so much amazingness! Great tip!!
WOW. I've never heard of such a thing! I should try it! :)
thanks for commenting on my blog! I love being short this one time in my life cause I could fit in a mini! also though most ppl would think why is a 15 yr old driving, when I'm actually 21..lol I heard apple cider/vinegar treatment is good for other skin disorders also! :O

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. So glad you dropped by so I came over to see yours - which I love. I'm your newest follower now.
Love your hair!!! Curious to hear about this vinegar treatment.
Oh, and your doggy is adorable.
How is it going?? I do love it! I added Some aspirin to my ACV toner, so it's more effective...I do love making my own natural cosmetics!
Loved your blog! I am bookmarking it!
brilliant! and i'm all about natural with my skin... can't wait to try this. RAW Apple cider vinegar is going on my to-get list :)
PS - I don't know if that photo was taken since you've used ACV, but your skin in glowing in that pic :) can't wait to hear about how it works for you.
haley-
pic was taken in april before the summer oilies kicked in. i appreciate the compliment, but would have to say that a really nice camera lens will attest to my glowy skin. that is, until the ACV does its magic (fingers crossed).
I would love to see if this works long term. It seems so simple and natural!
I love your hair!! It's so chic!
great idea! (i came to this post from the link in your clarisonic post)--i've also wanted to get a toner because i used to use one a few years ago and it always made my face feel so clean. but with the strong alcohol smell in regular toners, i've stayed away out of fear of them drying out my skin. i'll have to try your ACV idea!
ps-your hair is fantastic :)
awesome! my grandfather swears by apple cider vinegar, but i'd never heard of it as toner. i use tea tree oil as a toner, and the smell of it is slightly more than overwhelming :) haha, but ill have to try this now!
i posted a blog with all natural face masks my grandfather had given me here: http://sugarandcloth.com/2011/09/04/all-natural-facials/

Hi I'm Natalya ,so I jus started the ACV treatment for my face.I'm also drinking it,I did read that if u put 2 tsp in a glass of water it helps promote weight loss as well as 50 other great advantages for ur body & health.do note, that drinking the ACV did not taste like lemonade ,AT ALL!!! Trust me when I say it taste jus as bad as it smells....
Oh yay!! I really hope this ended up working out for you! If I ever quit using it for some unknown reason, my skin gets mad.
I am so looking forward to trying this! I am doing all I can to move to more natural skincare solutions after years of scrabbling around like a mad thing trying to find things that are right for my skin. Here's hoping this is the first step in a better direction!
I like it when folks get together and share views. Great blog, stick with it!
Stop by my website fireplace tile
I am going to go on a search for that ACV... is it strange that I like the smell of it :o) ?!
I always use this as my toner and it works wonders! :)
I use ACV straight, no dilution. It will make your skin red at first, but disregard this for real. It is really a cheap toner, exfoliator, and really a peel all in one. My skin had been aging super quick (starting at age 25, now I'm 30), including wrinkles AND acne, its not a fun combo. SO, the ACV is REALLy helping with the acne. Its getting rid of the scars and I would always have bumps on my cheeks, and they're now starting to feel smooth. It won't happen too quickly, but good enough-stay with it, don't get scared about the red skin, or burning. Its fine. It'll go away soon. I use a cosmetic wedge (clean) and just apply in upward direction. Let me know if this helps anyone!
