a walk to the hudson.

Monday, May 16, 2011

i often forget that we are on an island surrounded by water. there are so many things we could be doing that involve the river... sailing, kayaking, chillaxin on our yacht. in all seriousness, ed and i went sailing for his birthday last year and not only did i put my striped wardrobe to good use, we had an amazing time.

as beautiful as the hudson river is, i would not be surprised to see a floating dead body wash up to shore law and order SVU style. this would give me an excuse to call chris meloni* and use words like rape kit, arraignment, and search warrant.

either way, it makes for a peaceful saturday morning walk.

*have i told you that i met him? yeah, he's hot.

Funny you should say that. I always think I am going to see a floating dead body or some heroine needles when I'm by the water. Are we just cynical and jaded or just plain morbid?

jillian-
i'm thinking it's just a fact that the hudson river is a cesspool of disease and dead bodies. i always think of the seinfeld episode with kramer jumping in the east river.

Gorgeous pictures! But I have to be honest, if i were to ever visit the Hudson I don't think I'd touch the water... is that too girly? I've heard it's terribly dirty! Maybe you will find a dead body!
P.S. in response to your comment up there, I love Seinfeld.

Look, you can see me waving at you from Jersey in that pic! Even visiting NYC I do forget that I'm on an island. One day we walked from the East River to the Hudson and it was a nice reminder of how small the Manhattan can feel sometimes:)

I miss walks along the Hudson SO much, especially on a warm evening after a trip to the boat basin! :)

Oh SVU, how I love you. Almost as much as I love a stroll by the water. The Pacific Ocean doesn't lend its self to as many discoveries as the Hudson, but it ain't bad.

don't rub it in.

mary-
when i go to the boat basin i think about the scene in you've got mail with tom hanks... "say hello new jersey."

It's nice to walk by the Hudson, but that water is frightening. Sometimes when I'm traveling into NYC, I imagine what everything looked like long before the first settlers from Europe. Could you imagine the Hudson then? It must have been glorious.

brandi-
1. i love your imagination.
2. pretty sure the hudson (at one time) was a shining beacon of light. now it harbors dead bodies.

The Hudson might not be a great place to swim, but it looks like it makes for a great walk!

Also, your dog is adorable.
