a deserted nyc + bloggers share a summer home.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

nyc is empty this time of year. everyone is traveling or "summering" in the hamptons. before moving to nyc i didn't know the word summer could be changed to a verb. a little english lesson from me to you. you're welcome.

weekend walks in central park are spotted with tourists and the occasional city dweller who knows august is the best time to stick around.

i've always thought it would be awesome if nyc bloggers* would unite and share a summer home in the hamptons. there would be so many of us the rent would be cheap (on a per person basis). plus everyone could hang out, meet each other, etc. wouldn't that be the coolest?

i also imagine a lot of drama with fights like.... "i posted about that last week, bitch!"

NO WAY could we ever work out the logistics of something so huge. but i can dream.

*not that you would have to be a blogger. i'm just thinking of any mass group of women with the same interests.

A house of bloggers!I think it would be fun. Maybe fight-inducing, but maybe inspiring.

NYC and NJ bloggers? ;) I'd come. And help organize.

I'm in. There's nothing quite as amusing as watching a petty fight break out!

Cute photo! I love it when SF is mostly deserted - this happens almost every three-day weekend, when the locals pack up and head to wine country or to Tahoe. I like to stay behind and take advantage of the abundance of parking spots near my apartment ;)

instead of bachelor pad, we could call it blogger pad. it sounds so fun to me. i keep thinking of reality tv now. with challenges of who takes the best picture of their dinner plate and who brought the cutest nightie.

I'm posting about that NEXT week bitches!

And I am so there if you do plan one! I'll help plan it! I have OCD and it could come in handy. Ha!

Love the hat by the way (and your little dog too!)

That would be so fun to have a blogger getaway in the Hamptons...that may be the deciding factor in getting me to move to the east coast over the west coast even!
Much love,
B

Haha! That is such a fun idea :) And then you could all start a collective blog called "Blog from the Beach" or something, that described the daily goings-on at your summer house!

OH yes, I can imagine the chaos breaking out. I'll make a mental note to visit New York around this time next year.

I Love to have the town for myself... soon, everyone will return and I'll have to share LOL

Besides soon the Christmas madness is here so last time to enjoy the silence or usual noise sans jingle bells or last christmas tunes ahahahah

Do you really think bloggers would fight? I would love to see the meals, decor preps and what-do-i-take-in-my-suitcase-to-the-hamptons-that-can-compete-with-rebecca-de-la-fressange-looks LOL

Bloggers share a summer house...sounds amazing and totally scary. Heaven knows everything would be lovely and well curated. Glad you guys are enjoying the quiet of Manhattan-I'm delighted that tourist season in SF is slowing, just as it's starting to warm up!

HA HA HA I hope everyone would be kinder than that :)

When I lived in NYC I went in the opposite direction (sort of) and 'summered' in Rhode Island. I stayed at an amazing B&B that was right on Narragansett Bay (views to die for), in a room that was twice the size of my own apartment. I was still working, writing from a desk in the room, so on top of my breakfast, my host would bring me up cookies, or cake, or fruit salad, or cheese, all the time. All for the same price as my rent back in NYC, which was covered by a tourist found on craigslist.

naomi-
what a genius plan. thanks for sharing. the thought of a stranger staying in my apartment would make me a bit nervous. but new yorkers do it all the time.

um, that would be AMAZING! I would definitely be in on this if I wasn't all the way in Los Angeles...we could always do a beach house, right?

kid you not, did a "blog bash" with a group of bloggers years ago. and kid you not, did turn into a drama bash. which is so not my style, so i never came back for subsequent years that i was invited to (yes, they are still getting together, years later).

but... NY? would not pass that up.
