how to grow out a pixie.

Monday, August 1, 2011

1. slap yourself in the face for thinking about growing out a pixie.
2. neck trims every month to keep from growing a joe dirt mullet.
3. headbands, bobby pins, repeat.
4. why am i doing this again?

love #1 and #2. The neck hair always seems to grow faster than the rest

hahaha! my ENTIRE life, I have gone back and forth. I get tired of my hair being long because I never do anything with it and it's always in a ponytail. So, I take the plunge and cut it all off, swearing it's the last time. Then, after merely a few months, I will grow tired of having no options and my hair always looking the same (even though inevitably it will always look the same even if I do have options) so I grow it out again. Painfully. Then repeat the cycle. Except this time, I had a pretty good grow out, had passed through the Justin Beiber phase, when I saw a girl with super cute hair and just had to cut mine off again. Immediately regretted. Mine just wasn't as cute as hers. Oh well, the growing out process begins again. For the last time? Highly doubtful.

rachel-
i'm with you. i get bored to easily. as soon as it's grown out, it will be chopped off again within a year.

Haha! Joe Dirt Mullet :) I recently have begun a trend of cutting my hair shorter and shorter each time I go to the hair salon. Like I'm trying to make up for a lifelong hatred of cutting my hair within the span of a couple of months. Good luck with your grow-out!

Ugh. Growing out a pixie cut is so hard. I've done it a few times so I feel you.

You're gorgeous! I wish I had guts to cut off my hair....but I keep it so long. How do you do it!?!

I had a pixie for years and it took me forever to grow it out! but I loved having a pixie and have been thinking about cutting my hair again :)

Growing hair out is the worst thing EVER. I have been "growing it out" for months now and it is still a hot mess.

haha this is great. I run into this problem every time I cut my hair short, but I haven't learned my lesson yet!

Such a great cut for you! I am always the same way when I cut my hair short, but now it's long and wayyyy too long! You're inspiring me to cut!

Because you rock it. Of course.

I had similar feelings about growing out my bangs. I stayed away from all salons because seeing one made me want to run inside and chop it all back off. But it's worth it.

lol, I got a pixie cut three years ago, and the growing out part was hell. now my hair is long , but I'd love to cut it short again. but knowing how annyoing it is to let it grow keeps me from doing it :)

Thank you for the comment on my blog! I don't think I could get my hair cut any shorter than shoulder length, I like having longish hair too much!

aw, growing your hair out is always a pain. I have never gotten a pixie (not since I was very little at least) - but you have lovely features, perfect for a pixie cut! That's probably why you keep doing it ;-)

At least you have a gorgeous face... that's gotta make the growing out process more bearable. When I was growing out my pixie years ago, I got experimental with color and that seemed to help it go by faster.

I am officially your #200. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by our little blog earlier today lovely lady.
Seriously. I think the short'ish' hair is amazing on you.

haha, omg, this is me right now too! Everyday I ask myself why, why did I do this to my hair, while in turn trying to make the tiniest ponytail ever and/or use a bobby pin and a head scarf. Yeah.... my hair is a mess. Only a few more months though... or like a year. :(

I think your pixie looks amazing...you have great features for it. But I totally get the whole growing out dilemma...thanks for stopping by my blog - I'm glad someone else understands how hard it is to find shorts that aren't too short and skanky :)

after impulsively shaving my head a few years ago, i've not been able to get it long again. i hate the awkward bobby pin phase.

you're so funny! i have been growing out my pixie cut since i was 7 and cut my own hair with the kitchen scissors. i've only gotten to the bob and past a couple of times. this time i'm about to find a stylist and chop it off again. but, you're right about the list of things to do. i wear a headband everyday... btw.. you look smashing with a pixie. maybe you should keep it!

how long does it hate to get to your shoulders from a pixie iv recently done mine and cant stand it , its disgusting

anonymous-
yikes! sorry to hear that. i started growing out my pixie in march 2011. i now (november) have chin length hair but my bangs are a bit below my nose. i've had several trims in between. hope that helps.

Haha love this! I have been trying to grow out my pixie for 2 years now. I even got so depressed about how ugly the mullett was that I thought I could dye my way out of it... and turned my hair green. My poor boyfriend is sick of the repeated 'this time I'm really gonna grow it out, promise!'.

Wow, I totally understand this post... and what Rachel wrote! Ha! My life story.

I grow my hair shoulder length then cut it it every time. Either concave or pixie. I like my cut for one week then want my long hair back :-/

Ugh. I'm super short pixie and, while it suits me to a "T" for the most part, I have had this for 4 years and am tired of it. The worst part of course is the growing out stages, and I'm a hair stylist! I've thought of extensions as a less painful means to the final results of at least a bob (shoulder) length and then from there just keep going longer and longer. Still on the fence though.
