neighborhood love.

Monday, October 24, 2011

we've been spending a lot of time outside of our hood lately. dinners in the west village, shopping in soho, bike rides to harlem, and errands in union square.

walking around a different neighborhood always brings up the conversation, what if we lived here? it's a fun game we like to play, and we play it out in our heads down to the point where we've picked out a new grocery store.

we jump on an uptown train, our minds filled with the possibilities of a tribeca loft (dream on). soon after, we're walking up the stairs from underground to a view of the trees in central park.

and just like that, my thoughts are erased. i'm home.

ps: i walked beside tina fey this weekend and her 2 beautiful children. rather, i followed her into the playground. if i find andy samberg my new york life is complete.

I adore the 'what if we lived here' game... I tend to play it when tooling around a new city - much preferring that game to the reality of "tourist".

TINA FEY! So cool....

We find ourselves doing that a lot here in San Francisco - but I've lived in the same neighborhood for six years now and can't see myself moving, no matter how cool it would be to live in a SOMA loft or Seacliff oceanview home (big time dreaming here). Have a great week!

I actually made Aron chase after Tina fey once (without her knowing hopefully) when he didn't seem to believe me that she had just walked by!

ashley-
ha! we sort of did the same thing. i even had my camera around my neck. i wish i would have snapped a pic but then i would have been THAT person. no one likes that person.

thanks for basically expanding on my tweet-question from the other day :) glad to know you're loving the UWS.

we've only just started our apt hunt, but i'm totally torn between park/more space on UWS and adorableness/accessibility of downtown/village area.

kathy-
we were questioning the same thing 3 years ago. since we have a dog, the answer was easy.

Pssst... Andy Samberg lives on Grove Street, around the corner from us! We've sighted him a few times now.

Tina Fey is from Philly and once browsed through my mom's shop. She told me she was really gracious and sweet, even though my mom got overly excited about her being there :-)

My dream is to bomb into Jay-Z or Woody Allen. It's my ultimate New York fantasy.

Ahhh I love LOVE Tina Fey and Andy Samburg. So jeal of your star sighting. We don't get many of those in Seattle. Also there are only a few neighborhoods I'd like to live in here - but I play the what if I lived in a different city game a lot.

Upper West Side was definitely my hood back in the day-I was a Manhattan School of Music prep kid in high school, and I miss the neighborhood all the time!

i totally agree with you, adam and tina would be a dream to see/hang out with.

i also love to play pretend. my husband is a realist and doesn't find as much fun as i do in it but i'm a dreamer. :)

Living in the 'burbs of Milwaukee, the possibilites of me following a famous person into a park are practically nil, so I think that's mighty cool to see somebody as awesome as Tina Fey! Have a good week!

I love that you sorta stalked Tina Fey. She rocks. I know I'd be doing the same thing if I had the chance. And oh yes, Tribeca. What a cool place to live.

When I travel I often think about how I would like living in each town I visit. There are so many interesting and beautiful places. I love my city though, so I am quite content. :)

I always say that I could never live in New York, but you make me question that daily. And I adore Tina Fey...

I play that game, too! But just like you said - there's no place like home.
