remember this? i did it!

my perfectionism wouldn't let me get this video to you and i realized i had to let it go. it's my first video and i'm not going for an emmy.

so ignore the out of focus blurry moments as i will try to do the same. enjoy!

video shot with my canon rebel t2i.
edited by rebecca.
music choice by ed (which he took very seriously).
song: you belong with me by butch walker.

Oh my goodness, I love this! And I think you totally got a pic of my work building in one of those shots, by the way (haha). Oh and I love the shot of you on the train where you're all unknowing and then you catch your husband filming you and crack a smile. So cute!

I have been wanting to do a video like this for a while now. Unfortunately, my SLR doesn't take video, so...whatever to that! I'll just live my video dreams through you.

if anyone has some advice on how i could have shot a more in-focus video, i'm all ears.

tripod? fixed lens? all-around better videography skills?

Love this, lady!! So awesome and very well done....wish I had advice for you, but I know less than you when it comes to making videos. Keep up the fantastic work (and p.s. I love your first outfit!!) So NYC!

You did a great job! Love your skirt, too.

Well done, Rebecca! I dig the video. Pulling manual focus can be tough, for sure. There are little Eyepieces that you can get, that adhere to the monitor and magnify it, to make focusing easier. A way to cheat at this, is to zoom to 10x before you start recording, then dial in the focus perfectly. Yet another way to cheat, is to leave it on AF, in still mode, push the shutter half way (let the lens focus), then switch to MF, and video mode, start shooting. All of these techniques of course, are only relevant to a static subject. If you are shooting something that is moving (or if you are moving) then you will have to continually be readjusting focus.

jake-

Nice! I need to get up the guts and let go of my perfectionism as well, and just do it. You have inspired me. ;)

This movie is so low-key and pretty, and the music choice is lovely :). I am in the process of making a video as well. I'm a little intimidated by it, so thanks for the motivation!

Hey movie makers - thanks for this treat.
It was fun to skip in your shoes for a bit and tap my toes to the tune.

Happy day!

Great video and song!

Yeah, definitely always use MF, if your lens doesn't have mf override. Most of the EF mount canon lenses do. But I generally will flip the switch to MF anyway (which occasionally bites me in the ass when I'm shooting still the next day, hahaha).
