a very modern holiday.

our teeny apartment can't handle too many holiday decorations. honestly, i don't know if i have the energy to do the tree this year. four flights of stairs, falling pine needles, and a curious pup makes me a christmas tree scrooge. don't judge.

check it.....
1. this planter lights up!
2. i'm itching for this modern christmas tree. it disassembles into it's own drawstring bag. freaking genius.
3. i just like this picture. it doesn't really have anything to do with christmas except that you could decorate with chopped wood i suppose. awesome bench, though.
4. a wall-mounted fireplace

ps: for hanukkah.
ps again: i may have gone overboard with dwr's recent catalog. this post has very little variety.

Love the booth bench! For a small apartment, it's atmosphere seating made easy. I wonder if it can be configured to slide the top down to turn it into a full bench.

Thank you for posting the photos

I NEVER have the energy to do a Christmas tree, so I'm with you on that. This weekend, I'm going to pick up the Charlie Brown tree (you remember that sad little thing?). It's puny, but it's nostalgic and puts me in that Xmas spirit. Hopefully, it will still be at the store when I get there.

I like the idea of modern decorations. As much as I love the classic stuff, it's always nice to see something fresh and different.

If only I could decorate our house like DWR. If only. And if only my hubs was more into storing chopped wood in the house. But he makes good points about bugs and stuff being brought inside. I'll do anything to prevent bugs inside.

You should totally get a tree like the one in this post - that seems like a perfect solution for your situation!

This is my first year really wanting to do my apartment up right. For some reason I just never really felt like it when I lived in Sweden, since I always traveled home for the holiday. Frank and I are getting our tree this weekend and I can't wait!

We're doing the full-on Christmas tree this year, but ugh, those pine needles! I told my husband that we're bringing the tree up the back stairwell this year so we don't get millions of pine needles in our front stairwell like last year. Three flights of stairs for us, and even then the tree doesn't totally fit into our small apartment. I LOVE the alternative you found, and the fact that it stores so compactly. I hope you get it :)

I agree with you, Christmas trees are SO MUCH WORK! Ugh! The wooden one would be the perfect substitute. I think I would feel different if I had kids or something, but for now, I'm not willing to put in all that effort!

Well, the last line explains why I love everything in this post. I go to DWR's website I just dream, I love it! I could use a little wooden tree in our tiny apartment as well.

That light up planter is so cool! I quite enjoy the super modern christmas tree too. But I'd have to put it up in addition to the regular type. I'd miss all the ornaments too much!

That planter is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I'll take the Hunters next to it too, thanks.

Hi Rebecca thank you for stopping by to say HI.
Mom and I love making new friends. Mom and Dad are trying to keep things kind of simple this year. Oh their will still be a tree but less knick knacks.
Your blog is very pretty and we enjoyed the pictures.
Hugs Madi

That planter is AMAZING. I was siked to haul a Christmas tree to our apartment about 3 weeks ago, but the appeal is fading...

I love that tree and the fact it folds down and you can fit it into a bag...genius!

With limited storage that is the sort of Christmas decoration I need!

love that wall mountable fireplace. we're pretty old school and usually just put on that tv channel of the fireplace during the winter and light a candle.

Oh wow, that's a Christmas miracle to get a tree into a drawstring bag!

Just found your blog and I'm really enjoying it :)

Very pretty! I'm still not sure whether to go with a real tree next to the fireplace or go the minimalist way... both would work in my apartment. Hmm... decisions decisions...

Lovely blog by the way - and stop worrying about the design. It looks great as it is (says the person who changed her layout about 12 times before daring to go 'live' with her blog).

I really love the firewood under all the bookshelves. Subtle and rustic.
Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm enjoying yours quite a lot.

This is our first year home together for Christmas, so I am in charge of decorating. Talk about intimidating. I like the planter idea though; live plants are better than indoor ones to me.
