city bakery

i occasionally struggle with how often i should be documenting our lives. sometimes i just wanna live in the moment and not photograph it, ya' know?

this weekend i left big momma camera at home and snapped some moments on my iphone instead. i'm learning how to stop being so hard on myself. this post is step 1.

The good thing about the pairing of the Smartphones with Instagram is that they deliver decent quality photos. Sometimes, I can't even tell whether a picture was taken with an iPhone or a DSLR.

Whenever I don't bring my camera with me, I feel liberated (and my bag is much lighter). It inspires me to take better phone pictures, since I know I'm sacrificing a bit of quality. I see it as sort of a challenge.

I know exactly what you mean! It's like DSLR anxiety. These photos turned out lovely by the way.

That IS such a struggle...for me as well. I've had to purposely put down the camera and just take in the moment, which is tough, especially as a blogger. I am also thankful for my iPhone, as it enables me to capture things without feeling too distant from what's going on at times. ;)

You guys look totally cute. I am way more of an "in the moment person" than a photographer for sure, and I have far more enjoyed the experiences of living those moments than capturing them on film. I love these pics because they're real life! Thanks for doing it and don't be hard on yourself...we'll love it anyway!

i have the same problem. i was semi complaining to one of my friends about it and she looked at me and said "ash.. you don't have to document everything you do. leave some things for just your memory" which is hard to do, because i've always documented. but instead ive taken to journaling instead of photographing..

Can you please tell me where you got that "your mom" bag?! I literally say "your mom" to everything and to everyone- it's my favorite joke. I need that bag!

With the pro shit camera or an ipohne - it doesn't matter, because it's always a pleasure browsing trough your captures.

Yes! I find this too! I'll be doing something and thinking. . . THIS WOULD MAKE SUCH A GOOD BLOG POST and start snapping pictures like crazy. Sometimes I tell myself to chill the H out and be in the moment. But I'm not 1/16th the photographer you are. I pretty much live by my Instagram.

I feel the same way. Sometimes I just want to really breathe in and experience the moment and not worry so much about documenting it. Good for you! :)

I think these photos turned out totally blog-worthy! Not that I'm an expert, but I'm not repulsed and my eyes don't hurt, so I think you're good :)
Also the "my other bag is your mom" made me LOL. So good. Ha!
