vanilla sugar syrup

you know how sugar kinda just sinks to the bottom of your iced coffee? enter vanilla sugar syrup! i don't usually get all exclamation pointy, but it's pretty awesome.

vanilla sugar syrup
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 tsp of good vanilla extract

1. pour sugar and water into a saucepan and bring to a boil.
2. reduce heat and let syrup simmer until it's reduced a bit.
3. turn off the heat and add vanilla.
4. let the mixture cool and pour into designated sugar syrup bottle.

I have to try this out...I usually suffer pouring regular sugar in my coffee when I make it at home ;) I guess I thought it was harder than it actually is to make this!

Okay, this is going to have to happen in my house. Anything that involves vanilla just wins.

This is a staple in our house! Where's the cute bottle from though? We've been looking for one just like it.

Silly question: does it need to be refrigerated?

P.S. You can also make it plain (sans vanilla extract) and just put a vanilla bean in the bottle. Great gift idea!

Ah! I love this idea! I'm definitely going to be trying this out because I hate the stupid sugar land at the bottom of my cup.

I am definitely making this to have on hand! Someone else who said it is a good gift idea is a genius, because it is an excellent gift idea. How long will it last in the refrigerator?

This is cool. I just made Rosemary syrup yesterday for cocktails so making syrups don't scare me no more!

I was JUST sitting here with an iced coffee thinking about how it could taste better, and then I read this. Going to give it a whirl. Thanks!

Oohh this looks so delicious (coffee + sugary vanilly goodness). I don't know why I've never thought to add vanilla to simple syrup, genius.
