i have this theory that you are a better version of yourself while on vacation. not because you're away from work, because when are you really EVER away from work? but because there's this whole vacation mindset that somehow brings me back to the things i truly love to do.
what did i do the whole time we were at the beach? i took photos. not for the blog, not for family to look at, and not for the memories of ocean city, new jersey. i took them for me. simply because the act of seeking out beautiful light, finding the right composition, and taking a photo brings me pure joy.
anywho, ed and i spent some time with his family in the cutest little beach house i ever did see. and guess what?!? i have photos to share this week. big surprise.

THESE photos just sent me off on a cool little 10-second mini vacation :)
Ditto! Rachel had a great quote on her blog, elephantine, recently: "Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second." – Marc Riboud.
It's an interest I wish I cultivated more. You do it well!
jessie-
thanks for the fitting quote, and the kind words. :)
I've always felt that I'm a better version of myself on vacation, too. I'm more relaxed, more spontaneous and treat myself a bit better. Your photos are stunning and it looks like you had an incredible time!
that looks gorgeous. what a great place to relax + take a few shots!
I agree...vacation really does bring out the best in you. Your photos are just beautiful!
I think being on vacation also feels special because you don't have to deal with as many everyday-home tasks. It's nice to get away and eat differently and see new things. It's very rejuvenating.
that beach house is fab, you all look very content! :-)
gorgeous photos, as always. and I agree...I wish I possessed the ability to constantly channel the person I am on vacation. I'm very spoiled in the summer, with 3+ extra hours to myself every day not lost to the commute. I've been trying hard to really honor that gift.
these photos are stunning! so lovely. inspiring!
It is 100% necessary to be a le to do what YOU love on vacation...so glad you had some time to unwind. Can't wait to see pictures!

It shows. These photos are terrific. Genuinely.
I agree with your theory completely...great shots!
I think that is an excellent theory. Here is to 24/7 holidays? Looks like a super cute beach cottage too. Could definitely imagine my better self popping out there.
your theory makes a lotta sense
Just discovered the Daily Muse.. you're super duper cute and so is your blog:)
