just down the road from the beach house was this pastry shop of another era serving up baked goods to the beach goers and locals. the long lines and pushy customers reminded me of the zabar's fish counter where you take a number, memorize your order, and step up to bat when called.
truth be told, i despise sweets in the morning. donuts, pastries, french toast, and pancakes are completely lost on me before noon. though dot's donuts did hit the spot for dessert after a long day at the beach.

So glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't dig sweets in the morning. Maybe a quick bread, but that's all the sugar this girl can handle before noon.
