i surprised ed with a sunset sail almost two years ago for his birthday. i probably should have surprised him with tickets to a football game, but for whatever reason i chose sailing. summer is fading in the city and we were itching to go again before it gets cool.
they serve three (free!) drinks on the sail, so after an hour everyone gets real friendly like. we stopped by zabar's beforehand and loaded up on picnic goodies.
there's always nutjobs on the boat. lady across from us yelled out the water depth every 30 minutes. no one knows why, but an hour into the sail ed yelled out a random number just to throw her off.
a sweet lady sitting next to us took a sneaky photo on her phone and emailed it to me. i told you people got friendly.

ah, i just love the last photo! the city is a perfect back drop!
So lovely...I've actually never been sailing!
oh dang! so cute. when we went a sailin' on my birthday we handed our camera to a sweet couple so we could have a (rare) photo of the two of us. sadly, it was on manual. we never learn.
That photo of you two is really sweet. Almost out of a J. Crew catalog.
that looks like a totally awesome birthday gift...i'd totally be up for that! ...if only my birthday weren't in december. SIGH.
Beautiful photos, and I love the last one - you two look so happy together!
<3 last photo
so, so sweet. and i love those red shoes.
Doh! I actually want to do this, but I won't be in town until the last weekend of October. Do you think it's still worth it?
I've always wanted to do one of these! The photos are beautiful! And it's good to hear there were a few crazies on board, otherwise I would have just assumed that was the case.
So lovely. Reminds me of our honeymoon. We went on a sunset sail like that in Camden, Maine. The crew kindly took a photo of us, which we now treasure. All the more since, a few weeks after our trip (and to my horror) I accidentally erased my camera memory card with all our honeymoon photos! Not a happy day.

absolutely! it's so much cooler on the water so bundle up and bring a blanket.
An evening sail sounds super right about now.
Where are your sunglasses from? They're great!

That last photo is the best. Such a great shot of you two! (and I really dig that sweater you're wearing)
I laughed through this post especially when picturing Ed yelling out a random number to confuse crazy lady. Plus, how gorgeous do you look? Dayum girl.
