a break in normalcy.

cobblestone soho

family officially left us yesterday and it's back to normal around here. i crave consistency and schedules but doing just the opposite has been a breath of fresh air. this holiday break has made me realize my monotonous habits need a time out. i don't even veer paths when i take sam wiggins for a walk.

yesterday i leashed up the little man and walked to bloomingdale's and back for absolutely no reason at all. i returned home with a very tired dog and a restored mind, not to mention all the work i got done after stretching my legs. i quickly reached for an extra slice of pizza at dinner.

sometimes i forget to stop and take a look around.

I do this as well - Its so easy to get stuck in the same ol' same ol', right? But also, its nice to have an excuse to have that extra slice of pizza :)

It's good to change things up from time to time...I'm guilty of the same. A great way to start your year!

We started doing this a month ago when we were walking the dogs and remarked "how many hundreds of times have we walked this exact same loop?"...human beings are creatures of habit! We switched it up and now have 4 different loops though our favorite by far is a loop that takes us all around and through our downtown. And the extra mileage doesn't hurt the dog or us. :)
I think January is a nice month to break out of routine - especially after the excesses of the holidays. Happy New Year!

I think everyone gets stuck in routine from time to time, but then, when you mix it up, life seems a little extra exciting for a bit.

Those pictures are great. The last one especially is really pretty.

P.S. I just ordered the malin+goetz deodorant you're always suggesting and some retinol cream. Super excited to start using both. Thanks for the recommendations, Becca!

I love, even need, my routines, but you're so right–every routine needs a little shake up.

These pictures and words are PERFECT! When you IGed the last picture the other day, I realized that I haven't been looking around either. I left the house and took time to LOOK around. It was beautiful. Thank you!
