bethesda fountain central park
bethesda fountain 1905

i picked up this coffee table book the other day and it sparked my interest to other then and now photos of the city. i always gain a new perspective when the seasons change but this takes it to another level. above, bethesda fountain in 1905. look at the women's dresses! cool fact? in 1929 central park housed an upscale dinner and dance club, named the central park casino, in which new yorkers could purchase bootleg liquor during prohibition.

the flatiron building and an unpaved 5th ave and broadway. i have to wonder, at what point did we actually decide to name it 5th ave instead of ye olden dirt path?

Awesome! I love that the now and then pics of Union Square both include a man kneeling while selling flowers :)

It tickles me so that his Union Square photo also features a kneeling florist talking to a male customer. :) Beautiful comparisons all-around.

How sad that they changed the facade at that building next to the NY stock exchange and Union Square! I love this. Book added to my list to buy.
