palos verdes california

i started going through photos from our trip to california and the shots from palos verdes are easily my favorite. we switched rooms mid-stay (doesn't that always happen?) and asked the front desk for advice on a scenic drive as our new room wouldn't be ready for a few hours. it was an easy hour long cruise on the pacific coast highway (PCH to the locals) from our hotel in santa monica, though not the most scenic until you actually reach the peninsula. i counted one too many conoco 76 stations before implying that we were lost (we were not) and then suddenly past the fog... "oh hey, the most beautiful view i've ever seen!"

there was a hiking trail leading down to the water but my skinny jeans and canvas shoes would have failed the job. next time!

I am in love with the California coastline, though I am partial to Northern California's rocky cliffs and windswept beach towns. Palos Verdes is stunning, though, and you captured it beautifully.

what a view, wow...and I also just had a thought of "the californians" SNL skit describing which road you took, ha.

susan-
we recited that skit nearly every time we got in the car.

The California coast is so beautiful. All of your pictures are making me want a vacation to SoCal ASAP. Also, that drive sounds like a really productive and awesome way to kill an hour.

i went to california for the first time last september, and i am now enamored of its coastline. it's breath-taking. the traffic? eh, not so much.

I used to live as a nanny at the Terranea resort on the peninsula. Not a bad post-grad job, if I do say so myself.

The thing that surprised and delighted us was that driving along the coast there can be fog in one bay and five minutes up the road blue skies and sunshine. So beautiful!

How gorgeous–I haven't taken John for a drive down the coast and we're well overdue!
