santa monica pier

for whatever reason we didn't upgrade the zipcar with a gps so i played navigator on the iphone. you best believe all directions were spoken in the californians voice and most of the time they ended in a mulholland or two. i took these photos nearly the moment we stepped off the plane and i swear you can see the sigh of fresh air on our cranky new york faces. i sort of fell in love with santa monica.

the venice boardwalk was a short bike ride away and filled with quite the crowd of interesting people. for example... a woman eating breakfast in her glass house. seriously, completely glass home.

it's time for shorts, linen button ups, and after dinner walks to tasti-d-lite.

Gorgeous photos, as usual. That boardwalk and those views were my running backdrop for seven years. Oh, how I miss it.

And hopefully you made it down to muscle beach in Venice to see the meat-heads flexing and lifting and grunting in the California sun!

Wow, your photos are amazing! I've been to Venice once as a teenager and would love to return.

I love these photos and you're so right that the look of relief on your faces is somewhat palpable from the photos. So great. one of these days the weather will be warm here and we can really experience spring.
