settling in.

marc newson dish doctor

we've been at the new place for a full week and things are slowly coming together. these past few days have been busier than most and if anything it's taught me patience. a handful of boxes are still not unpacked and that errand to the hardware store keeps getting pushed back to the next day. i figure the apartment will still be here tomorrow and perhaps i'll get around to it then. also, our sink is eternally filled with coffee grounds.

the daily muse

i'm extremely intimidated by blank walls and the hanging of the things. where does it go? what are the rules? and what's wrong with blank walls in the first place!?

our very small art collection will likely continue to collect dust against the wall until summer is over.

kartell componibili

i'll have you know that the componibili is entirely filled with sam's doggie paraphernalia, poo bags included. classy!

and i'd be lying if i told you we actually had a ton of stuff to transport in the first place. there's no one easier to move than a couple of minimalists.

thankfully, this guy is slowly settling in as well.

Your place looks amazing! I am the opposite of minimalist, so my move back in February was grueling. I learned a lot moving across Astoria into my boyfriend's place after five years living solo; I had to purge, purge, purge! Congratulations on the beautiful new space!

Looks like a great space, and throw the rules out that large window because it doesn't matter. You'll get inspired one day and have it all done in one afternoon! Congrats on the new place!

Those windows are amazing! I've just moved as well, and it definitely had me wishing I was a minimalist like yourself :)

Nice choice in dish rack. I would do well to buy a componobili for all of my pup's gear instead of the current set up of having three separate holding areas.

The light, the light! John and I have been living in our apartment for more than two years and are still trying to decide where things go–oh well!

oh let the blank settle in....they look so good. the whole place looks amazing. the window view is so different for me at least. i have never lived in a big city apartment so i'm a little jealous. enjoy!

From one minimalist to another, I think your apartment looks beautiful. Love your desk chair (including fabric color). Would you tell me where it came from? And are you happy with it at your desk? Thank you!

suzanne-
thanks so much! it's a knoll saarinen executive chair in marina velvet-- purchased with ed's deep discount. otherwise, you can find the chair at DWR or hive modern and sometimes on ebay. it's sooo comfy and perfect for when we have guests over as it serves for extra seating.

Congrats on the new place! What amazing light! I sure wish I was a minimalist and am dreading moving later this year (only after some massive purging, of course)...
