strawberry picking in new jersey

ed and i were itching to get out of the city this weekend if for no other reason than to sit in traffic on the jersey turnpike and pay a million dollars in bridge tolls. it's fantastic! but seriously, the only thing better than new york in the summer is LEAVING new york in the summer. the exodus begins at 3pm on friday afternoons and is then promptly followed by the long island expressway turning into a parking lot. by dinner on friday night--- crickets in the city.

strawberry picking in new jersey

i had strawberry picking on the brain and lord knows why... it's hard work! ok, not that hard but i always assume these farmers are hysterically laughing at the city folk picking their strawberries for them and on top of that, charging us to do so. taking pictures even! that being said, i highly recommend battleview orchards should you have the urge to pick your own fruit.

berries are jumping out of the fridge and sam wiggins has a red-stained beard to prove it. i'm up to my eyeballs!

ps: apple pickin too.

Those strawberries look perfect. I have never been to a "you pick" farm and I live in the Midwest! I do have memories of picking blackberries in a friends yard as a kid and I really can still taste how fresh they were.

I haven't gone fruit picking in years! Probably a decade and more. This looks like such a fun thing to do! Oh the many many things you can do and make with strawberries.

haha, I agree that they're probably thinking "wow we get to make money and have them do all the work for us!" :P

i LOVE battleview! My family is from and still lives in the area so we try to get there for apple picking and pumpkin picking later in the year.
