heirloom tomato pizza

we've been savoring the last bit of heirlooms on our weekly pizza night since before you know it tomatoes around here will come straight from a can rather than fresh from the farmers' market. i took this beauty out of the oven last week and realized it was so very picture perfect that i best take a picture. props to the heirlooms for making a thrown together pizza look fancy schmancy.

obviously this isn't so much a recipe as it is an idea for a pizza topping. but nonetheless...

heirloom tomato pizza
store bought pizza dough
san marzano tomato sauce (it makes all the difference)
fresh or shredded mozzarella
grated parmesan reggiano
thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes
fresh basil
dash of red pepper flakes
garlic salt

1. roll the dough out on a greased pizza pan and top with pizza sauce and cheeses. add thinly sliced heirlooms and sprinkle with garlic salt and a dash of red pepper flakes.
2. bake according to dough directions or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
3. sprinkle with fresh basil before serving.

anyone have a good EASY pizza dough recipe?

ps: more pizza ideas.

I love getting store bought pizza dough. It is a lifesaver. At our local store, they have wheat and cornmeal. Gives it a nice texture and flavor! I've had san marzano from restaurants, but i've never bought any myself. I can't get over the price for a can of tomatoes!

I have some heirloom tomatoes that need to be used and this sounds so perfect as I refuse to give up on summer. My favorite pizza crust is one I adapted from Ashley of Not Without Salt. It's no-knead, you just mix the ingredients together in a bowl with your hands and put the dough in the fridge the overnight. Just bring it up to room temp before using. Super easy. http://dulanotes.com/crispy-kale-garlic-scape-and-grape-tomato-pizza/

I get great results from DALS' adaptation of Jim Lahey's pizza crust -- yours looks delish! http://www.dinneralovestory.com/money-in-the-bank/

I love the store bought bags of dough too - super cheap and so great to have in the freezer. That said, I'd love an easy recipe to try to make on my own - Wondering if it's worth it. This pizza looks awesome!

Looks delicious. Our family is dying because we just found out our three year old is allergic to yeast. Sniff.

I use Robbie's thin pizza crust recipe http://recipes.robbiehaf.com/T/272.htm
- it's so quick and easy, with no waiting time at all, mix and use. And delicious!
