route 9 new york

this past weekend we packed a bag full of snacks and dog treats and loaded up the car for a hike. the hudson valley proved to be as gorgeous as ever and the trees were in full display.

bear mountain state park is a short (and beautiful) drive from new york city filled with dog friendly trails and gorgeous views. ed and i could barely hold a conversation over the crunch crunch of the leaves and sam wiggins could barely contain himself in general.

of course i couldn't help but snap a few phone photos of the gorgeous views, but for the most part, it was satisfying to unplug and walk until our legs fell off.

a thorough tick inspection commenced before stepping into the car, sam wiggins being the main culprit. leg pits! check his leg pits!

followed by apples and peanut butter crackers, a pit-stop at starbucks, and a passed out pup for the ride back home.

Gosh, I have so many memories from Bear Mountain. It's where I used to pick pumpkins and Christmas trees with my family. It was also the "almost home indicator" when I drove from school. Fall in Paris is nice... but nice quite as beautiful.

Great photos! I happen to agree Hudson Valley is a beautiful and easy getaway from NYC. The Bear Mountain park is great, my boyfriend and I went to a lovely wedding there last year. I'm with you on the "unplugging" too. Usually I spend a lot of time taking photographs on our little mini getaways, but lately my camera has been staying in my bag as I just enjoy the moment.

Beautiful pictures. I would love to have more fall colors like that in Los Angeles!

Great captures! I have so many wonderful memories of trips up to Bear Mountain during the summertime, but I've never been in the fall.

Beautiful colors! The leaves in Chicago are changing at a really slow pace this year. Your pictures remind me that I need to get out of the city sometime soon!
